Hello everyone,

This year for my birthday I would like to support a wonderful organisation called Manos Unidas who work tirelessly to support children with learning difficulties in Peru. Many many years ago when travelling in Tasmania I met a girl called Celeste Marion who played her guitar to us at the backpackers and sang beautifully.  She later went on to establish Manos Unidas. She is now married with two gorgeous children and Manos Unidas continues to do amazing work such as establishing a restaurant in Lima, Peru which is staffed by Manos Unidas students. I have always admired Celeste's work and this year in lock down a few friends asked for charitable donations in lieu of birthday presents. I would like to ask that if you are considering buying me a birthday present this year you send it to Manos Unidas instead!

Manos Unidas Peru' mission is to improve the quality of life of children and youth with disabilities. We offer affordable sliding scale tuition to all families, giving children with disabilities access to quality education and therapies. But now, MUP’s main revenue source will dissolve given the financial hardship families are facing because of the global coronavirus pandemic. We refuse to discriminate and provide access to MUP's services to only those who can pay. To provide support for the 71 Manos Unidas students for reminder of the 2020 school year we need to raise $50,000.
